4-Way Test – 2015 Competition

Four-Way-TestThe Four Way Test
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

How often do we test ourselves with The Four Way Test?

At our meeting on 12th August, 2015, our Club were pleased to welcome Patrick Newton, of Oxley College and Lucy Barrett, of Frensham College. Patrick and Lucy were competing to go onto the next round of District 9710’s Youth Four Way Test Speaking Competition with students nominated from the other Southern Highlands Rotary Clubs.

Patrick’s speech was very moving, as he spoke of Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, both of whom were executed in Bali in April this year.
Lucy spoke of applying the Four Way Test to the use of social media.

We were extremely impressed with both Patrick and Lucy’s presentations; Lucy just edging ahead of Patrick because of the closer integration into her speech, of the Four Way Test.

We would like to congratulate both of our candidates on their impressive ability to stand in front of a room full of people and maintain quiet confidence, a great projection of their voices and all the strong qualities which make for very good public speakers.

Congratulations to Lucy; we wish her all the very best for her next round.
And a hearty congratulations to Patrick on his impressive performance.
